Suicide Prevention

The Adam English Suicide Prevention Program in Memphis TN

In 1989, Adam English committed suicide in Canberra, Australia, leaving his family devastated, angry and wondering why. Adam was only 18 years old.

Adam was a funny, intelligent, and caring individual who showed no signs of depression and was in perfect health. He was working as a bank teller, had many friends and was well liked in the community. He had everything to live for, yet he chose to end his life. To this day, his family and friends still don't know why.

Adam was the childhood friend of our Chief Information Officer, who started this program in Memphis TN to help others before they go down the same path.

What We Do

According to Lakeside Behavioral Health, located in Memphis TN, the highest risk group for suicide are middle aged white males.

We work with Lakeside Behavioral Health, who provide all counselling and treatment for individuals needing help.

We actively market the community through direct mail and paid online advertising, looking for people who are willing to reach out to us for help and pay for their treatment if they cannot pay for it themselves.

We have a dedicated phone number set up, available 24/7, that we use in all our communications and marketing.

Of particular concern for us is the suicide rate for fathers who cannot cope with the many stresses associated with being a parent, in particular the financial challenges associated with being responsible for the wellbeing of their families. Often, all it takes is a monetary gift to show these men that they are not alone and that there is help available to them.

Nothing is more traumatic for a child than losing a parent to suicide and we do whatever we can to prevent it.
